Life Insurance For Older People
There are a lot of ads on TV for guaranteed issue life insurance policies. They seem to concentrate on the senior market. It surely sounds attractive! And the ease of the application process, plus not having to worry about being declined for ill health, make it a good alternative for some people.
If you are wondering if guaranteed issue life insurance for seniors is a good idea, you will probably want to understand the difference between it an a regular (simplified) issue policy.
Understand that this type of policy probably does NOT have an immediate death benefit. There may be a waiting period of 2 – 3 years before the full benefit is paid out. If that is not satisfied, because the person dies before the time period, the contract may allow a partial payment or may just refund the premiums.
On the other hand, if you are in reasonably decent health for your age, you may very well qualify for a simplified issue policy. The premiums should be lower, and it should have an immediate death benfit.
Different people have different goals they want to satisfy with a senior life insurance policy, and there is not one right policy for everybody. But be sure and understand what you are buying.
